Empowering You to Act and Be Prepared – First Aid Skills for Every Age, Every
Home, Every Day.

Wellness2Vitality (W2V) successfully hosted Emergency Ready: First Aid Seminar – Empowering You to Act and Be Prepared at the Newton Public Library, welcoming a diverse group of participants ranging from young children (10 years old) to seniors over 70. Designed for the general public, the event was offered in both in person and Zoom formats to ensure wide community access.
Led by W2V Population Health Director Wan Ho Lung, PharmD, the seminar provided practical, approachable training on how to recognize and respond to common everyday emergencies. Topics covered included:
* Cuts and open wounds
* Blisters
* Burns
* Insect and tick bites
* Snakebites
* Nosebleeds
* Frostbite
* Sunburn
* Choking emergencies
Participants engaged in handson practice, working in small groups to perform first aid techniques and act out real life scenarios. This interactive format helped attendees build confidence, develop practical skills, and better understand how to respond quickly and effectively during an emergency.
With a focus on preparedness for both indoor and outdoor first aid needs, the seminar emphasized the importance of personal responsibility and encouraged individuals and families to take active roles in protecting themselves and supporting their community.
The event concluded with a constructive Q&A session, where attendees of all ages asked practical questions and received clear, actionable guidance from Director Lung. This open dialogue strengthened understanding, reinforced key concepts, and ensured participants left feeling informed, empowered, and ready to act.
Emergency Ready successfully brought the community together and strengthened local preparedness. Wellness2Vitality looks forward to continuing to provide accessible, impactful health education programs for all. Attendees shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, expressing appreciation for the clear instruction and hands‑on experience, and many voiced strong interests in
